The speaker, Dr. Rohit Singh, says that there has been a tremendous growth in suicide rates among younger generations, aged 15 to 25. He attributes this to a number of factors, including:
- Social media: Dr. Singh says that social media can be harmful because it can lead to people constantly comparing themselves to others, which can create feelings of inadequacy and low self-esteem. However, he also acknowledges that social media can be a positive force, if used responsibly.
- Impulsivity: Dr. Singh says that the current generation is more impulsive than previous generations and wants everything immediately. This can lead to frustration and feelings of hopelessness when things don’t go their way.
- Lack of patience: Dr. Singh says that the current generation is also less patient than previous generations. This can make it difficult for them to deal with setbacks and failures, which can also lead to feelings of hopelessness.
- Lack of family support: Dr. Singh says that the current generation is spending less time with family than previous generations. This lack of family support can make it difficult for them to cope with challenges in life.
